Maggie Rose Paine
Maggie Rose Paine is a Te Whanganui-a-Tara-based writer who also founded the Silver Noodle Soup Film & Theatre Company and has appeared on stage and film as Uncle Butterfly and other weird and wonderful characters. She is a scriptwriter, composer, musician, and improvisational comedian. The Uncle Butterfly Papers is her first book.

How do you select the names of your characters?
Most of my characters share names with people or things from the ‘real’ world – especially performers and musicians like Woody Herman, or inanimate objects animated like Mr Fire Sprinkler, Mrs Sausage and FaceBook the Teletubby!
