Michael Glynn
I was born but…
Worked in Agriculture/Horticulture, Tertiary Education, Plastics Manufacturing, Glass Manufacturing, Documentary Research/Production, Tourism/Hospitality, Bumble Bee Production.
I do not own a dog.
My first successful story was derived from ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’, beyond that I was discovered to have no talent for writing at an early age.
Do you try more to be original, or to deliver to readers what they want?
Original – otherwise the writer is the product.
How do you select the names of your characters?
They pretty much select them themselves.
If you had to do something differently as a child or teenager to become a better writer as an adult, what would you do?
Pay attention to myself!
Have you Googled yourself? Did you find out anything interesting?
No, but the probability is that I would discover I’m not me.
Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym? Why?
No. I am sufficiently anonymous.
How did publishing your first book change your writing process?
It’s just another distraction slowing things down, though fortunately I write using what I will describe as an accretive technique, so it is eminently interruptible.
How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?
Two – A chronicle of 1978 and a dystopian childrens’ book.
